Tenant Profile:
Crane Co. Expands for The Third Time at First Stamford Place

Crane Co., a diversified manufacturer of highly engineered products, recently completed its third expansion at 100 and 300 First Stamford Place. The global corporation leased an additional 7,114 square feet, raising its total occupancy to 32,801 square feet.

The firm, founded in 1855 by Richard Teller Crane, provides products and solutions to customers in the aerospace, electronics, hydrocarbon processing, petrochemical, chemical, power generation, automated merchandising, transportation and other markets. The company has five business segments: Aerospace & Electronics, Fluid Handling, Engineered Materials, Merchandising Systems and Controls.

Crane Co., which currently has approximately 12,000 employees in North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Australia, relocated to W&M's class-A office complex from Manhattan in 1992.

"We realized more than 15 years ago that Stamford is a great alternative to Manhattan," notes Kevin King, director of finance at the company. "We enjoy the same conveniences as New York-based companies, but at a more reasonable rent. In this location, we are close to major financial markets, a short drive away from airports, and a quick train ride to and from Manhattan. And Stamford is attractive to a wide range of talented professionals within the Tri-State area."

To this day, the building's location remains one of the primary reasons why Crane Co. has had such a long tenancy at the property.

Additional reasons include the quality of the property and its responsive management. "First Stamford Place is a step ahead of most office buildings in the area. The location, the services and the amenities are very competitive," says Richard Koch, director of investor relations and corporate communications at Crane Co. "Also, we are fortunate that W&M Properties has been so accommodating and flexible. Each time we've needed space to grow, W&M, due to its hands-on relationships with its tenants, has been able to arrange exactly what is required."

"We are proud that Crane Co. has chosen to remain and grow at First Stamford Place for so many years," says Jeffrey H. Newman, executive vice president of W&M Properties. "We look forward to continuing to fulfill Crane's space requirements and service them in a first-class fashion indefinitely."
